In 1952 when George VI died Elizabeth and Philip were on an excursion. They had a plan to travel from Australia to New Zealand and also to stop in Africa. When Elizabeth came to know about the death of her father she was in Kenya.

Queen Elizabeth II was officially crowned a year after her father’s death because holding such a festival is not allowed before it passes a year from the death of the monarch. Queen Elizabeth gets crowned on 2nd June 1953 at the age of twenty-five. The Coronation took place at Westminster Abbey in London.
