Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr., popularly known as Marcus Garvey was born on 17th August 1887 in Jamaica. He is famous for being the first president of UNIA, an association that mainly focused on Negro improvement and African communities.

He was a very famous Jamaican activist, politician, publisher, philosopher, and journalist. His words and thoughts impacted and influenced the minds of many people all around the world and his ideologies are popularly known as ‘Graveyism’.

He belonged to a very large pheasant family and during his childhood had many white friends, but to his surprise, they all distanced themselves from him as they grew up.
