One of the major architects of the Indian constitution Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar is of a famous Indian leader. He was an Indian jurist, economist, and famous politician who was respected by all.

On, every year 14th, April is celebrated all around the country to embark on the birthday of this renowned personality. The Indian government has enlisted this day as a National holiday.

He was born as the 14th child of the family, in Mhow, Central Provinces(now Madhya Pradesh) on 14 April 1891. His father Ramji Maloji Sakpal was an army officer of the rank of Subedar. His mother Bhimabai Sakpal was a religious-minded homemaker.

The caste system was quite prevalent at the time of his birth. He was born in a Marathi family of poor Dalit status family. People in those days used to treat them as untouchables and were not respected by society.

The family traveled to many places but never got the desired respect and were always considered the Untouchables. This rude behavior left a deep impact on the mind of young Ambedkar.

He was keen on education from an early age and felt if he is educated he will earn respect from the people he expects. He completed his schooling at Elphinstone High School, Mumbai, and was the first person from his caste to accomplish this achievement. He then completed his post-graduation from the London School of Economics.

Ambedkar spent his time studying history and found the roots of his caste. He believed that Shudras were part Kshatriya clan at some point of time in history. They were disregarded from the society when their clans afflicted tyranny on the Brahmins.

They were outcasted and were forced to perform low work. They were also considered untouchables for performing such a heinous act.

Ambedkar was highly against the caste system and untouchability. All his life he fought for their rights and laid the emphasis that every human is the child of God. He educated the people of his cast and organized marches and a public procession to express his views.

He was a prominent and respected Indian Leader who actively participated in the Independence movement. He was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi who was also in favor of equality.

After Independence, congress appointed him as independent India’s first Law Minister.

He is also credited to be the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee and was the writer of India’s Constitution.

He guided us and led India to the path of equality where every citizen is equal despite his color, caste, and religion.
