Michael Joseph Jackson was born on 29th August 1958 in Gary, Indiana, U.S. He is considered as one of the most prominent figures of the 20th Century. He was a singer, songwriter, and a mesmerizing dancer of his time. His stage performance would leave the audience spellbound.

He was born into a working-class African-American family. His father Joseph Jackson was a former boxer and used to work as a crane operator in the U.S steel. He used to play guitar with the local rhythm to add extra income to the family. His mother Katherine Esther Jackson used to work for Sears and played clarinet and piano at performances.

All his siblings had been gifted music in their genes by their parents but Michael was the most talented of all his siblings. He had three sisters namely Rebbie, La Toya & Janet, and five brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Randy with whom he formed the band Jackson5.

He made his professional debut in 1964, with Jackson5 but due to some family tussles moved to make his solo career. In 1971, he began his solo career and by the 1980’s he was a music icon.

He gave many hits of that period and some of his music videos were “Beat It”, “Billie Jean”, and “Thriller”. His stage performance was mind-blowing and people were mesmerized emotionally by his performance.

He invented some of the brilliant dancing techniques like “Moonwalk” and “Robot” which are still loved and copied by new dancers all over the world.

His dance style is a source of inspiration for youngsters. His top-selling album has been estimated to have sold 350 million copies across the world.

On 25th June 2009, this megastar died of a cardiac heart arrest. His death was mourned by people all over the world and live broadcasted by Google and Facebook.

The star was applauded with several awards all his life. During his lifetime he won 15 Grammy Awards, 26 American Music Awards, and 13 number-one US singles.
