Michael Sylvester is the eldest son of the family born to “Francesco ‘Frank’ Stallone Sr.”, a beautician, hairstylist, and “Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Stallone”, an astrologer, women wrestling promoter and a dancer. His father is Italian while his mother is French and Ukrainian-Jewish. Since his mother had suffered several complications in her labor, her obstetricians had to use two pairs of forceps for Sylvester’s delivery.

This misuse of forceps caused them to accidentally serve a nerve which lead to paralysis in parts of his face. The family moved to Washington, DC in the early 1950s for starting a beauty school, and then in 1954, his mother launched a women’s gym known as “Barbella’s”.

Later in 1957, when his parents separated with divorce, he initially stayed with his father only but at age of 15 joined his mother who was living in Philadelphia after remarrying.

Stallone had a school expulsion history and because of this, he was made to attend a private school that was meant for troubled teenagers. Then he attended the American College of Switzerland, where he began having an interest in acting, and then he returned to the USA to join the University of Miami.
