When did Diwali Start?

It is about the goddess Lakshmi from Hindu mythology. It is believed that during a Diwali night she chose Lord Vishnu to be her spouse.

Lakshmi Devi is considered to be the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and fertility.

Another story of Diwali is about Lord Krishna. When Lord Krishna triumphed over Narakasura and gained the independence of all the inhabitants of his kingdom, people started to celebrate the day as Diwali (the day when demons are slain).

Today, we can find that people belonging to some parts of India burn huge dolls of demon kings to show that goodness wins in the end.

The Celebration Of Diwali

If you are not aware of how Diwali is celebrated then you must know the answer lies in the name itself. The word Diwali is derived from”Deepavali” which is a Sanskrit word. Deepavali means rows of lit lamps, and that’s the way Diwali is celebrated by lighting lamps around the house. Rangolis are also made which elevates the look of every house. Rangolis are made by using a type of colorful powder.

When we think about Diwali the images that come to our mind are bright lights, joyful music, and fireworks. The night sky gets filled with beautiful firecrackers and by doing all these it is believed that evil spirits will stay away.

Diwali is a festival that can do miracles, people who lost touch with their family connect back to them, and people arrange family gatherings so it’s a time for joy and peacemaking.

Popular gifts for Diwali are sweets and dry fruits. The exchange of sweets signifies the sweet bond shared between two people.

Things To Do On Diwali With Family

One can decorate their homes with family by using fairy lights and other colorful things.

Burn crackers and also educate their family about the precautions one must take while burning them.

One can organize a puja at home and exchange prayers. Make sweets like Kaju barfi with your family and enjoy a fun time.
