Significance of Yoga day
Shiva sometimes referred to as Adiyogi, is regarded as the founder and architect of yoga. The Saptarishis further propagated this among the populace. According to the mythology of India, Shiva spent many years sitting in a meditative position. Then, seven people decided to learn from him after being inspired by his level of resolve, and they remained motionless for more than 84 years.
Then, on the day of the summer solstice, Lord Shiva saw these 7 creatures and taught the Saptarishis the art of meditation (7 rishis).
India’s role in promoting yoga
In India, yoga first appeared. It has been performed in India for almost 5000 years; everyone there is familiar with yoga, is aware of its advantages, and has been doing it long before it gained worldwide acclaim. The current Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, proposed elevating International Yoga Day in his speech to the UN.
In his remarks, he stated that yoga is a priceless gift from India’s long history. It embodies the balance between man and nature, thinking and deed, constraint and fulfillment, and a holistic approach to health and well-being. Let’s work to establish a global day of yoga.
The UN Assembly agreed to commemorate International Yoga Day on June 21 each year after agreeing to this idea. Additionally, a number of activities are planned in schools, such as having pupils write essays in English and other regional languages in honor of International Yoga Day.
